The Department of Pediatrics (DoP), invite applicants to apply to this 0.3 FTE, AMHSP Locum position at the Alberta Children’s hospital, in the Section of Pediatric Palliative Medicine.
The locum position is to cover clinical work beginning March 1, 2025, until August 31, 2025.
Clinical responsibilities for the position will include:
- Admitting physician at Rotary Flames House (RFH) for family support/respite, symptom management, and end of life (EOL) care of pediatric patients with complex palliative care needs
- Consultation services (including through Specialist Link) for patients from Southern Alberta requiring pediatric palliative medicine advice including symptom management and end of life care
- Follow-up management and/or co-management of program patients at ACH ambulatory clinics/inpatient units/PICU/NICU and NICU sites across Calgary Zone
- Home visits for support of pediatric patients at the EOL
- Virtual and phone support for community partners caring for patients in remote and rural Southern Alberta locations
- Bedside teaching of trainees participating in Pediatric Palliative Medicine electives
- Full participation in the program physician on call services, approximately 1:5 call. On call service includes MRP for program patients admitted to RFH, consultant level support as needed across Southern Alberta, including patients admitted to ACH/Calgary Zone NICUs/ community partners with palliative care needs, and to the Provincial Pediatric Palliative Care on call initiative.

The Candidate must have a Palliative Medicine Subspecialty certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent, or be Royal College certified in Pediatrics with additional training/experience in Palliative Medicine
The candidate must be eligible for Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.
