The University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, Department of Medicine, Division of Pulmonary Medicine, in partnership with Alberta Health Services, invites applications for an academic physician in Pulmonary Hypertension and Interstitial Lung Disease to be based at the University of Alberta Hospital.
Located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, the Faculty has been internationally recognized among the world’s top 50 medical schools and as one of Canada’s premier health-education institutions. The University is currently home to more than 38,000 students with more than 15,000 faculty and staff.
The Division of Pulmonary Medicine provides a wide range of quaternary and tertiary clinical services in Pulmonary Medicine and Allergy, and is home to the second largest lung transplant program in Canada averaging 60–80 transplants annually. The Division has a long-standing history of excellence and an international reputation in clinical and research activities across pulmonary medicine. Key Accountabilities:
Key accountabilities of the Pulmonary Hypertension and Interstitial Lung Disease will include, but will not be limited to providing specialized ambulatory care within the Pulmonary Hypertension and ILD clinics, as well as general pulmonary clinics; participating in inpatient and consult services at the University of Alberta Hospital; contributing to teaching and mentorship of residents, fellows, and junior faculty; developing and leading translational and/or clinical research programs in PH and ILD, leveraging existing divisional research and clinical trial infrastructure.
The successful candidate will be offered a contingent tenured or tenure-track appointment in the Department of Medicine, with the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, in accordance with the University of Alberta Faculty Agreement. The appointment includes a comprehensive benefits package.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will be an MD (or equivalent) with certification in Respiratory Medicine with the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada, be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA), and demonstrate a proven academic track record in Pulmonary Hypertension and/or Interstitial Lung Disease.
Individuals with a strong interest and track record in translational and/or clinical research in PH and ILD are encouraged to apply.
