The Department of Medicine, in the Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary, and Alberta Health Services Calgary corridor invites applications for a Contingent Term appointment in academic transplant medicine (focused in lung transplant) and medical education at the Assistant Professor level.

 

The successful candidate will be involved in medical education leadership within the University of Calgary undergraduate medical education office, as well as will be expected to participate in teaching and supervision at the University of Calgary in undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate clinical and academic programs. The position will have 60% protected time for medical education academic activities. Duties will also include providing clinical care to patients as part of their membership within the Sections/Divisions of Transplant Medicine and Respirology.

Qualifications:

Qualifications required include a MD, certification in Internal Medicine and Respirology, eligibility for regular licensure in the Province of Alberta, and sub-specialty training in lung transplant. An advanced degree such as a Masters’ degree in medical education is also required

Applicants must present evidence of early success as a medical educator and scholar, as demonstrated through early academic productivity in terms of presentations, publications, awards and project funding. They should also have evidence of leadership in the area of undergraduate medical education. Evidence of successful teaching and/or graduate supervision would be an asset. Evidence of collaborations with other medical education scholars and academic engagement in professional and other communities will be assessed.

 

The candidate must be eligible for Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.
