Recovery Alberta in partnership with the University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, is inviting applications from Adult Psychiatrists to take on the role of Inpatient and Outpatient Psychiatrist at the University of Alberta Hospital (UAH) in the Department of Addictions and Mental Health. There is a 0.5 FTE position for Inpatients attached to a 0.3 FTE for Outpatients available.
Our multi-disciplinary teams consisting of nursing, psychiatry, psychology, occupational therapy, social work, education, and speech-language pathology provide education and assistance for more than 1.2 million people in Edmonton and surrounding areas.
We are seeking a candidate skilled in the management of inpatients on a General Adult Psychiatry Unit. As part of the Inpatient Psychiatry Team, the successful candidate will be responsible for the assessment and treatment of patients admitted to the University of Alberta Hospital Psychiatry Inpatient Units. The successful candidate will also provide call coverage for the ER department while on duty.
This role will also include a 0.3 FTE position in the Psychiatry Treatment Clinic (PTC). This clinic provides outpatient support to patients referred via the Access 24/7 Mental Health Program. The psychiatrist will work with mental health therapists to co-manage care and provide psychiatric consultation in the outpatient setting.
The successful candidate will teach undergraduate medical students and/or resident physicians and will be encouraged to apply for a Clinical Academic Colleague appointment, which will be considered through a process with the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry (FoMD).
The candidate will be expected to be involved in AHS and the University of Alberta program development initiatives and will be required to fully utilize AHS IT systems and processes, including Connect Care.
Remuneration will be on fee-for-service billings submitted to Alberta Health
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have an MD and must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Psychiatry, for licensure in the province of Alberta.
