Alberta Precision Laboratories (APL) is seeking a full-time Anatomical or General Pathologist for the Misericordia Community Hospital (MCH) in Edmonton, Alberta. MCH is a key acute-care site serving the Edmonton metropolitan region and is part of the Covenant Health network. The successful applicant will join a skilled and collaborative pathology team providing comprehensive diagnostic services to the hospital and its associated programs. Expertise in surgical pathology is essential and interest/expertise in breast, gynecological and/or dermatopathology is considered an asset. MCH is a training site for the University of Alberta Diagnostic Pathology residency training programs and the successful applicant should be passionate about participating in medical education. Opportunities will be available to obtain clinical academic appointments with the University of Alberta.
APL is a province-wide, multi-site laboratory organization delivering integrated, high-quality diagnostic services across Alberta. The MCH laboratory provides comprehensive services and includes sections for anatomical pathology, hematology, transfusion medicine, biochemistry, and microbiology. Extensive immunohistochemistry, special stain, and molecular capabilities support high-quality diagnostic work.
Job Summary & Responsibilities
Maintain the highest standards of practice, ensuring timely reporting aligned with provincial metrics and key performance indicators. Participate actively in quality assurance and quality improvement initiatives. Participate actively in medical education. Provide on-call coverage as assigned.
Qualifications:
Applicants must hold: An MD; eligibility for licensure Alberta; and Certification in Anatomic (Diagnostic and Molecular) Pathology or General (Diagnostic and Clinical) Pathology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (CPSA) or certification in Anatomic/Clinical Pathology by the American Board of Pathology
