Description:

The prospective candidate will contribute to all aspects of the work schedule including proportional OR time, clinics, ward duties and the consult service. On call responsibilities will be distributed proportionally with the group.

•             Develop and lead an independent translational research program focused on mechanisms of cardiovascular disease relevant to cardiac surgical populations (e.g., pericardial inflammation, fibrosis, myocardial remodeling, valvular and aortic disease)

•             Leverage human cardiovascular tissue, biologic samples, and clinically linked datasets to drive discovery and translation

•             Maintain an active clinical practice in cardiac surgery

•             Contribute to and expand existing translational research platforms, including biobanking, clinical registries, and multidisciplinary collaborations

•             Collaborate with cardiac surgeons, cardiologists, imaging specialists, and basic scientists across institutional programs

•             Secure peer-reviewed external funding

•             Supervise and mentor graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and clinical trainees

•             Participate in teaching and academic service within the Departments of Surgery and Cardiac Sciences responsibilities will include 12 & 16 weeks of Cardiology Ward Service and Emergency Department & Cardiology Triage, E-consults. There will be both daytime and overnight responsibilities for in-patient general cardiology clinical services, as well as ambulatory care consultative opportunities.

Qualifications:

Qualifications include an MD with certification in Cardiac Surgery. Eligibility for licensure in cardiac surgery in the Province of Alberta is required. Please submit three references to Dr. Bob Kiaii

 

The candidate must be eligible for Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.
