The Foothills Medical Centre Dental Clinic provides care for adult, complex care, patients. The clinic consists of dentists, dental specialists, dental assistants and hygienists who work collaboratively to support patients within the clinic as well as provide support and consultation to other clinical areas such as head and neck cancer, transplant, hematology, and identified inpatient dental needs. The clinic also works collaboratively with community dental partners to facilitate patient transitions to and from community dental care. The Foothills Medical Centre Dental Clinic also enjoys a strong partnership with educational institutions in the way of teaching and mentoring dental students and residents, and it is looking for dentists willing to play an active role in the General Practice Residency Program.
The Foothills Medical Centre Dental Clinic is expected to relocate into a brand-new state-of-the-art facility, part of the new Arthur J.E. Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre consisting of ten treatment rooms and one operating room.
The Dentist will become a member of the Division of Adult Dentistry in the Section of Dentistry and Oral Health. Privileges can also be provided for access to the Chartered Surgical Facility under the AHS Dentistry Contract. The Dentist will provide comprehensive dental care to adults with medical complexities. They will also provide consultation and support services for patients from multidisciplinary teams, units, and emergency departments. Remuneration is fee for service with a percentage of cost recovery. They will also participate in the adult dentistry on-call rotation. In addition, they will be required to teach dental students and residents.
Required Qualifications: § DMD/DDS. § Eligibility for licensure with the Alberta Dental Association and College. |
Preferred Qualifications: § Experience with procedural sedation. § Experience in oral medicine, oral health in head and neck cancer care, and multidisciplinary teams. § Experience with consultation and assessment of adult patients with special needs. § Experience with Teaching and Learners. § Knowledge of resources and referral programs for community based dental treatment. |
