Alberta Health Services, Department of Pediatrics and Medical Affairs, Edmonton Corridor is inviting Pediatricians with special training and capability in Neonatal Intensive Care to apply for a position with the Edmonton Corridor Neonatal Intensive Care Program.
Responsibilities:
As a Clinical Associate within the Critical Care Division at in the Edmonton Corridor the successful candidate will be expected to provide one-in-four in-house after hours medical clinical coverage to all critically ill neonates within the Edmonton Corridor, Neonatal Intensive Care Units, including Stollery Children’s Hospital sites (Royal Alexandra Hospital, University Hospital and Sturgeon Community Hospital), Misericordia Community Hospital and Grey Nuns Community Hospital. At all times you will be working under the ongoing supervision and direction of the attending neonatologist. Shift assignment will be determined by program needs and applicant capability.
Qualifications:
Physicians must be eligible for independent licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta, appropriate Canadian Medical Protective Association coverage, and NRP certification. Applicants must have completed Canadian Pediatrics or Neonatal Perinatal Medicine residency training. Applicants must have current experience in the clinical management of level 2 NICU patients (32 weeks gestation and above), advanced neonatal resuscitation, and procedures notably intubation, umbilical venous line insertion, and needle thoracocentesis.
The successful applicant will be contracted with Medical Affairs, Edmonton Zone, AHS and shall have or be eligible for certification in Pediatrics or Neonatal Perinatal Medicine with the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (including Subspecialty Examination Affiliate Program - SEAP) and must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta. Significant Neonatal Intensive Care experience is required along with significant experience with neonatal resuscitation support.
