Description:

The Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology within the Department of Medicine at the University of Calgary and Alberta Health Services (AHS) invites applications for a position as a luminal gastroenterologist with a special interest in polyposis and hereditary colorectal cancer syndromes. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will develop and lead a multidisciplinary clinic in this area. Given the clinical focus of the work, specialized training in endoscopic tissue resection is considered essential.

We’re passionate about what we do. Our team of skilled and dedicated health care professionals, support staff, and physicians promote wellness and provide health care every day, across the Calgary Zone.  We are an equal opportunity employer. AHS values the diversity of the people and communities we serve and is committed to attracting, engaging, and developing a diverse and inclusive workforce.

Qualifications:

Qualifications include an MD, FRCPC Gastroenterology, and eligibility for licensure in the Province of Alberta.  Additional qualifications include specialized training in advanced luminal therapeutics. Remuneration will come from fee for service (FFS) billings through Alberta Health.

Applicants should have a strong background in all aspects of gastroenterology with a focus on colorectal cancer. The successful candidate will have completed at least 12 months of post-gastroenterology specialized clinical fellowship training in luminal therapeutics including advanced endoscopic tissue resection (endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) and endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD)). There is also an expectation that the successful candidate will contribute to teaching within the Division and will be part of GI Central Access and Triage (GI CAT). Although there is no expectation for high research productivity, the position will have an academic focus and thus formal experience and/or significant exposure to clinical research will be considered an asset.

The candidate must be eligible for Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.

Must read, write, and speak English. All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however, Canadians and Permanent Residents will be given priority.
