Alberta Health Services (AHS), Edmonton Corridor invites applications for the role of Corridor Clinical Department Hospital Lead (CCDHL), Emergency - University of Alberta Hospital (UAH).
This 0.20 FTE position governed by the Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules, reports to the Corridor Clinical Department Lead (CCDL), Emergency Medicine and the Hospital Medical Director (HMD), UAH. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that standards of care are being met in the department and that support for research and teaching is available.
This position provides input into the development of policies and criteria for procedures as they relate to Emergency Medicine as well as reviewing and recommending privileges for physicians working within the Emergency Department. This position is accountable for, but not limited to, the resolution of physician-related and clinical-operational matters; providing clinical leadership, consultation, support and coaching to the UAH Emergency Physicians, medical staff, and allied health staff; monitoring clinical practice and medical staff in accordance with the Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules; and advocating for the provision of overall quality, patient safety, and patient care.
AHS is seeking to fill both the CCDHL and Deputy CCDHL leadership roles; however, consideration may be given to a single candidate interested in assuming a combined 0.4 FTE leadership appointment, subject to organizational needs and candidate qualifications.
The position has an expected term of 3 years.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong abilities in communication, conflict resolution, and negotiation, along with a passion for quality and patient safety while working as part of a leadership team. They will be an inclusive and visionary leader with significant medical leadership experience and will be regarded by their peers as a strong clinician.
Candidates must be registered or eligible for registration with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent, eligible to work in Canada, and be eligible for or have current licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta and appointment to the AHS Medical Staff. Candidates should have evidence of formal administrative education and training.
