Alberta Health Services (AHS), Edmonton Corridor invites applications for the role of Corridor Clinical Department Hospital Lead (CCDHL), Emergency - Westview Health Centre (WHC).

 

This 0.05 FTE position governed by the Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules, reports to the Corridor Clinical Department Lead (CCDL), Emergency Medicine and the Hospital Medical Director (HMD), WHC.  The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that standards of care are being met in the department and that support for research and teaching is available.

 

The successful candidate will assist the CCDL with quality issues as well as assisting the HMD with operational matters.

 

This position provides input into the development of policies and criteria for procedures as they relate to Emergency Medicine as well as reviewing and recommending privileges for physicians working within the Emergency Department. This position is accountable for, but not limited to, the resolution of physician-related and clinical-operational matters; providing clinical leadership, consultation, support and coaching to the WCH Emergency Physicians, medical staff and allied health staff; monitoring clinical practice and medical staff in accordance with the Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules; and advocating for the provision of overall quality, patient safety, and patient care.

 

The Westview Health Centre is a community hospital in the town of Stony Plain located 17 km west of Edmonton. The Emergency Department provides 24/7 services with onsite lab and DI and sees almost 30,000 patient visits per year. This opportunity is perfect for Emergency Physicians interested in building a foundation that promotes the health and well-being within a community, as part of a larger corridor.

 

The position has an expected term of 3 years.
 


 

Qualifications:

 

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong abilities in communication, conflict resolution, and negotiation, along with a passion for quality and patient safety while working as part of a leadership team. They will be an inclusive and visionary leader with significant medical leadership experience and will be regarded by their peers as a strong clinician.

 

Candidates must be registered or eligible for registration with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent, eligible to work in Canada, and be eligible for or have current licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta and appointment to the AHS Medical Staff. Candidates should have evidence of formal administrative education and training.
