Alberta Health Services (AHS), Edmonton Corridor invites applications for the role of Deputy Corridor Clinical Department Lead (DCCDL), Hospital Medicine Program, Child Health.
This 0.10 FTE position governed by the Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules, reports to the Corridor Clinical Department Lead, Child Health. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that standards of care are being met in the department and that support for research and teaching is available.
Other major accountabilities include but not limited to:
To assist with building the capacity in the pediatric hospital medicine service (to help with the medical models of care work)
Develop capacity in pediatric hospital medicine, with a focus on non-teaching services
Dealing with concerns from clients regarding the quality of medical/clinical care.
Development of orientation, periodic review, and exit processes for physicians for the Hospital medicine program (Child Health).
Development, implementation and review of effective medical management structure, and quality and utilization initiatives for the clinical area.
Dealing with physician performance/discipline issues.
Providing clinical leadership, support and coaching to the Hospital medicine program (Child Health) staff, including developing objectives collaboratively with each physician.
The position has an expected term of 1 year.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong abilities in communication, conflict resolution, and negotiation, along with a passion for quality and patient safety while working as part of a leadership team. They will be an inclusive and visionary leader with significant medical leadership experience and will be regarded by their peers as a strong clinician.
Candidates must be registered or eligible for registration with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent, eligible to work in Canada, and be eligible for or have current licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta and appointment to the AHS Medical Staff. Candidates should have evidence of formal administrative education and training.
