Position Description:
The Deputy Corridor Clinical Department Lead, Professional Affairs position has been created to support the Department of Pediatrics to meet the objectives of excellence in all spheres of activity – clinical service, teaching, research and administration. The Deputy Corridor Clinical Department Lead, Professional Affairs position is a 0.15 FTE medical leadership position that reports to the Academic and Corridor Clinical Department Lead. This position will be a part of the Department Leadership team composed of the Department Lead, Deputy Leads Education and Clinical Affairs, as well as the Department Manager.
Eligible applicants include physician members of the Department of Pediatrics who also hold a clinical or academic appointment in the Cumming School of Medicine. The term of appointment will be flexible, as agreed to by both the Department Lead and Deputy Department Lead, with the initial appointment being for a minimum of two years.
The main roles and responsibilities of the Deputy Corridor Clinical Department Lead, Professional Affairs are the following:
Professional Development
· The Deputy Corridor Clinical Department Lead will oversee the development of specific programming that will enhance the professional development of the faculty. This will include mentorship, career development including leadership skills and comprehensive orientation for all new faculty
Communications
· The Deputy Corridor Clinical Department Lead, with administrative support from the department, will oversee regular communications for the faculty and staff with our key partners, this includes but is not limited to email communications, weekly bulletins, the departmental website and regular department-wide meetings.
Faculty Wellness
· The Deputy Corridor Clinical Department Lead will oversee the development of a general culture and specific programming that will enhance the wellbeing of the physicians in the department, in particular with respect to work-life integration and career satisfaction. The goal is to supplement activities and resources that are available elsewhere with an approach that is specific to the needs of the Department.
Professionalism
The Deputy Corridor Clinical Department Lead will work with departmental leadership and Human Resources to address professionalism concerns. This includes supporting physicians navigating challenges related to communication, conflict and professional conduct. This also includes serving as a mentor to department members and leaders in the effective, and compassionate management of professionalism concerns.

Qualifications:
Applicants must hold an MD and Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (or equivalent) in Pediatrics or equivalent.
The candidate must be eligible for Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.
Must read, write, and speak English.
