Description:

Primary responsibilities include:
•    Department of Family Medicine:
o    Support the goals and objectives of the Department of Family Medicine and Alberta Health Services;
o    Participate in the Department of Family Medicine Executive Committee meetings when required as a designate of the Section Chief;
•    Section of Medical Inpatient Care:
o    Provide leadership and direction with respect to the development and implementation of Quality Improvement and Quality Assurance Programs within the Section of Medical Inpatients in accordance with the Section, Department and Corridor priorities;
o    Provide leadership and direction with respect to the development and implementation of a Continuous Professional Development and Education Program in accordance with the Section, Department and Corridor priorities;
o    Develop and maintain healthy working relationships with key partners for the Section of Medical Inpatient Care;
o    Temporarily assume the duties of the Section Chief in their absence; Provide leadership, support and development with co-managed psychiatry inpatient care programs;
o    Other duties as identified from time to time by the Section Chief.
Time Commitment
0.2 FTE (8 hours per week)
Accountability
Accountable to the Chief, Section Medical Inpatient Care, Department of Family Medicine, Calgary Corridor

Qualifications:

•     Physician with an Alberta medical license with experience in inpatient hospital medicine; current or recent work in the Calgary hospitalist program is considered an asset;
•    Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to effectively develop and lead teams;
•    Demonstrated successful interpersonal and communication skills;
•    Proven organizational skills;
•    Knowledge of Calgary Corridor – AHS structure, governance, clinical and operational departments;
•    Ability to identify and balance priorities and interests of the public, Alberta Health Services and physicians;
•    Clinical appointment with AHS, Calgary Corridor.

The candidate must be eligible for Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.
