Alberta Health Services (AHS), Edmonton Zone invites applications for the role of Deputy Zone Clinical Department Head (DZCDH), Adult Critical Care (ACC).
This 0.25 FTE position governed by the Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules, reports to the Zone Clinical Department Head (ZCDH), ACC. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that standards of care are being met in the department and that support for research and teaching is available.
Other main responsibilities but not limited to are:
To assist ZCDH in his/her duties; acting on behalf of the ZCDH in their absence and as their designate for those duties assigned by the ZCDH or designated by the Medical Bylaws and Rules.
To foster inter-departmental collaborations across the Zone.
To foster the integrated clinical and academic mission within DCCM across the Edmonton Zone.
To liaise with Site Medical Directors across Edmonton Zone and Regional ICUs.
To lead, develop and facilitate zonal Department initiatives.
The position has an expected start date of approximately June 1, 2026 and an expected term of 3 years.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated abilities in communication, conflict resolution, and negotiation. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated abilities in communication, conflict resolution and a passion for quality and patient safety working as a part of a leadership team. They will be an inclusive and visionary leader with significant experience in medical leadership and is considered a strong clinician by peers.
Candidates must be registered or eligible for registration with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent, eligible to work in Canada, and be eligible for or have current licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta and appointment to the AHS Medical Staff. Candidates should have evidence of formal administrative education and training.
