Description:

The Department of Medicine, University of Calgary in conjunction with Alberta Health Services (AHS) invites applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE) adult endocrinologist, with a special focus on management of benign and malignant thyroid disease 

The selected applicant will be an integral part of the thyroid cancer and nodule team, consisting of 6 other adult endocrinologists, 2 registered nurses, and several additional AHS staff, as well as the broader multidisciplinary TBCC thyroid tumour team 

Clinical 85-90% 

  • Outpatient clinics 
  • 50% thyroid cancer clinics 
  • 25% thyroid nodule clinics 
  • 25% general endocrinology clinics 
  • Inpatient call: 2-4 weeks 
  • Specialist link: 2 weeks 
  • Central access & triage: 2 weeks 

Academic/Research 0-5% 

  • The selected applicant is encouraged to participate in existing academic activities within the thyroid cancer and nodule group including:  
  • Annual endocrine tumour team meeting 
  • Quarterly thyroid cancer journal club (ATOG) 
  • Aid in recruitment of study subjects for ongoing research studies (where appropriate)  

Education 5-10% 

  • The selected applicant is expected to engage in clinical and non-clinical teaching of trainees at all levels (medical students, residents, endocrinology and surgical oncology fellows, post-graduate thyroid cancer fellows) 

Clinical services may be delivered at the following locations depending on capacity:  

AHS facilities 

  • Thyroid Cancer: RRDTC +/- Arthur Child cancer centre 
  • Thyroid Nodule: South Health Campus hospital 
  • General Endocrinology: South Health Campus hospital 

Non-AHS facilities 

  • Associate Clinic Endocrinology

Qualifications: 

The candidate must be eligible for Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.
