Covenant Health is seeking Family Physicians in good standing with CPSA, and has privileges with AHS, who are interested in expanding their scope by providing medical care within a Long-Term Care (LTC) facility. This opportunity allows physicians to maintain their independent outpatient practice while adding a rewarding LTC panel that offers continuity, stability, and meaningful relationship-centered care for seniors. Our LTC site offers a highly supportive environment with strong interdisciplinary collaboration, predictable scheduling, and streamlined workflows that integrate well with community family practice. 

 

Highlights of the Role 

  • Supplement your current practice with a dedicated LTC resident panel. 

  • Predictable hours that integrate easily with existing clinic schedules. 

  • Collaborative care team including nursing, pharmacy, therapy, and social work. 

  • Administrative support for onboarding, documentation, and scheduling. 

  • Orientation and mentorship available for physicians new to LTC. 

 

Responsibilities 

  • Provide longitudinal medical care to an assigned panel of LTC residents. 

  • Conduct regular assessments, medication reviews, and care planning rounds. 

  • Participate in family meetings and interdisciplinary case conferences. 

  • Ensure timely documentation in accordance with LTC standards. 

  • Provide on-call or after-hours support within an agreed rotation (if applicable).

Required: 

  • MD or equivalent. 

  • Licensed or eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta. 

  • CCFP or equivalent. 

  • Interest in geriatric medicine or long-term care (training and support available) 

  • Expertise and commitment to quality care and patient safety. 

  • Demonstrated commitment to Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) in the healthcare environment. 

  • Understanding of Just Culture and its role in healthcare.
