Description:
General Internal Medicine Specialists, in our region, work out of four hospitals in the Calgary Zone as well as the Richmond Road Diagnostic and Treatment Centre. The scope of practice includes working on the medical teaching team, supervising both undergraduate medical students, postgraduate residents, and general internal medicine fellows. Other services include working on the non-teaching, general internal medicine service, consultation service, perioperative medicine clinics and ambulatory medicine clinics An on-call rota is established, by hospital site, and may require in-house coverage.

Qualifications:
The successful candidate requires subspecialty certification in General Internal Medicine by the RCPSC (R5 or equivalent), as well as focused training in point of care ultrasound (POCUS) and formal education in Quality Improvement. Applicants will be responsible for health services research and medical education in both POCUS and QI. Experience in teaching, curriculum development, exam development and quality improvement skills in these areas are mandatory requirements for this position.
From a clinical perspective, this position will also involve general internal medicine ambulatory care, focused on indigenous health. Experience serving this population is an essential requirement.
The candidate must be eligible for Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.
