Description:

The successful applicants are expected to participate in clinical service commitments in the General Internal Medicine which may include but are not limited to:  

  • inpatient clinical teaching services, 

  • inpatient clinical nonteaching services, 

  • emergency consultations, 

  • inpatient and critical care consultation, 

  • urgent ambulatory access, 

  • POCUS service,

  • chronic disease prevention and management clinics.  

Expectations:

  • Successful candidates are expected to provide an active ambulatory service.

  • The GIM Division is invested in the teaching of ward based medical teaching units in internal medicine, actively contributing to the education of medical students, residents and other learners.  Therefore, the successful applicants will be expected to apply for a Clinical Academic Colleague Appointment in the Department of Medicine University of Alberta, which will be considered under a separate process through the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry. Appointment to the Alberta Health Services Medical Staff is also required.

  • Actively participate in hospital clinical and/or education committees to provide a leadership role. Research activities and involvement are encouraged but not mandatory.

  •  

Qualifications:

Candidates must hold an MD or equivalent with completed training in General Internal Medicine (GIM) and must be eligible for licensure within the Province of Alberta.
