The successful applicant will work at the Foothills Medical Centre as part of the HPB Teaching Service. They will work as part of a team doing a broad practice in benign and malignant diseases of the liver, pancreas, gallbladder, and biliary tract. The successful applicant will be expected to participate in on-call duties for general surgery and HPB surgery. The position will be 1.0 FTE. Compensation will be by Fee for Service billing. Demonstrated experience and expertise in minimally invasive surgery and robotic surgery will be considered an asset. The position will include hospital privileges within the Calgary Zone of AHS.
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Provide call support as per call schedules according to the site and Alberta Health Services policies.
- Contribute to and participate in teaching programs and activities (undergraduate and postgraduate, medical school, surgical residency, and surgical fellowships).
- Contribute to and participate in other administrative responsibilities.
- Participate in collaborative research projects.
The surgeon will be expected to apply for a clinical academic appointment with the University of Calgary, Cumming School of Medicine, Department of Surgery and to participate in medical student, resident, and fellow teaching. They will also be expected to be involved in teaching in the General Surgery Residency program at the University of Calgary.
