Alberta Health Services and the University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, Department of Surgery, Division of General Surgery, invites applications for a General Surgeon / Trauma Surgeon. The successful applicant will be based primarily at the University of Alberta Hospital.
The University of Alberta Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry has been internationally recognized as among the world’s top 50 medical schools and as one of Canada’s premier health-education institutions. Alberta Health Services is Canada’s largest and only provincial health region providing services for a population of over 4.2 million people.
The General Surgery program presently consists of 63 General Surgeons and provides service to the City of Edmonton and surrounding communities. We provide specialized care in all aspects of General Surgery including hepatobiliary surgery and transplantation, general surgical oncology, head and neck surgery, endocrine surgery, trauma, colorectal surgery, vascular surgery, upper GI surgery, bariatric surgery, breast surgery, and minimally invasive surgery.
This role will include 10 weeks of Trauma call with equivalent night-time coverage, 4-6 weeks of Acute Care surgery with equivalent nighttime coverage, and 2 elective OR days/month at LCH.
Applicants must hold an MD or equivalent with completed training in General Surgery and must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.
The successful candidate will be expected to apply for a UofA appointment with the FoMD under a separate process.
