Covenant Health invites applications for a Hospitalist (Family Physician) to join our care team at Villa Caritas Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta.
Villa Caritas is a 150‑bed acute mental health facility dedicated to supporting seniors with complex medical and psychiatric conditions. The site provides timely, specialized assessment and treatment, with a strong focus on stabilizing patients and transitioning them safely back home or to appropriate community or continuing care settings.
This part‑time locum position supports the existing Family Medicine service—currently composed of two General Practitioners and one Nurse Practitioner—primarily for vacation and illness coverage. This is an excellent opportunity for a Family Physician with an established community practice who is interested in serving as a medical consultant within a Geriatric Psychiatry environment.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable managing acute medical care for older adults with multiple comorbidities and collaborating within a multidisciplinary care model.
The successful applicant will also be expected to apply for a Clinical Faculty Appointment with the University of Alberta’s Department of Family Medicine. This process is handled separately through the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry.
Required
- MD or equivalent
- Eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA)
- Certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)
- Strong commitment to quality care and patient safety
- Demonstrated commitment to Diversity, Equity & Inclusion in healthcare
- Understanding of Just Culture principles in healthcare environments
Preferred
- An existing community-based Family Medicine practice
- Experience working within a collaborative, multidisciplinary care model
