Infectious Diseases Clinician with expertise in Tropical Medicine and Antimicrobial Stewardship

The Department of Medicine (http://www.departmentofmedicine.com) in the Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary and Alberta Health Services (http://www.albertahealthservices.ca) invites applications for a permanent position as an Infectious Disease Specialist with additional expertise in Tropical Medicine and Antimicrobial Stewardship. 

Primary clinical responsibilities will include providing inpatient general infectious disease consultancy services inclusive of night and weekend call, outpatient care in the home parenteral therapy programs (HPTP), and tropical infectious disease clinics. Inpatient care activities may occur at any of the Calgary Corridor adult hospital sites.  

Consideration for the position will be considered based on the following attributes: 

1. Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with health care colleagues in the provision of patient care 
2. Completion of advanced training such as fellowship or diploma training in applicable areas 

·         Antimicrobial Stewardship: 1-year advanced fellowship with research and clinical training demonstrated  

·         Tropical Infectious Disease: Preference will be given to those with formal training in Tropical Infectious Diseases who hold a DTM&H/CTropMed certification and have demonstrated experience/leadership in this area  

3. Demonstrated experience in the supervision and teaching of medical trainees at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels as well as colleagues by way of formal and informal means 

    

4. Willingness to participate in divisional and departmental administrative activities (e.g., hiring or student committees)  
5. Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion (EDI) in the workplace in order to build relationships and understand the varied social and structural health determinants in order to work effectively with diverse colleagues, teams, and communities 

The position represents 0.7 full time equivalent status for general clinical care. Additional participation in subspecialized tropical medicine clinics and programming will be an asset in this role. Participation in further Antimicrobial Stewardship positions within Acute Care Alberta as they become available will be an asset also.
