Position Overview

Covenant Health is seeking a qualified Locum Obstetrician & Gynecologist to join the medical staff at the Grey Nuns Community Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta. This locum opportunity offers the chance to work within a collegial, collaborative team serving a diverse patient population in one of Edmonton’s busiest women’s health centres.

The successful candidate will also be expected to apply for a Clinical Faculty Appointment with the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology, University of Alberta. This appointment is handled through a separate process managed by the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality inpatient and outpatient obstetrical and gynecological care.
  • Participate fully in the department’s call schedule, which currently includes:
    • Two physicians in-house until 6:00 p.m., and
    • One physician in-house overnight, supported by a robust second-on-call system.
  • Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and contribute positively to a collaborative group environment.
  • Participate in medical education, including teaching medical students and residents.
  • Uphold Covenant Health’s values and commitment to patient safety and quality care.

Required:

  • MD or equivalent.
  • Certification in Obstetrics & Gynecology from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
  • Eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA).
  • Demonstrated commitment to high-quality patient care, safety, and professionalism.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a group practice.
