Medical Director - Southern Alberta Clinic

The SAC Medical director will be responsible for the following areas: 1) Quality of care in HIV clinic – maintain optimal testing, referral pathways, treatment and follow-up protocols, and outcome and quality metrics in alignment with recognized HIV care programs nationally or internationally; 2) Physician services – maintain an appropriate and diverse team of physicians to deliver high-quality care, and be aware of innovations and use of technology in care where appropriate (e.g. rural and remote care delivery); 3) Community liaison – maintain strong community links for coordination of care and programs, and provide educational updates where needed; 4) Cost stewardship – Collaborative delivery of care to optimize costs in balance with patient outcomes such as with ordering tests, appointment frequency, and treatment selection as well as clinic budget management; 5) Education – Facilitate educational opportunities for all SAC staff on and off site as appropriate; 6) Multidisciplinary team – Manage a collaborative health care team and set up an environment of respect and inclusion, ensure availability of providers for routine and urgent services; 7)Collaboration – Work with external agencies such as public health for outbreak, epidemiology and other issues and communicate procedures and policies when needed; and 8)Research – participate in and facilitate research and scholarly opportunities within the clinic.​
