Alberta Health Services (AHS), Edmonton Zone, invites applications for the role of Medical Lead, Education in Continuing Care.
This 0.20 FTE position, governed by the Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules, reports directly to the Deputy Zone Clinical Department Head (DZCDH), Continuing Care and Seniors’ Health, Edmonton Zone.
The Medical Lead, Education will be responsible for ensuring that Medical Education is effectively delivered in Continuing Care in the Edmonton Zone. They will also support teaching of Medical Learners in all areas of Continuing Care. They will create mutually collaborative relationships with the Medical (including Clinical and Leadership) and Operational aspects of Continuing Care; and with the University of Alberta Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry and, in particular, the section of Geriatrics and the Department of Family Medicine.
The position has an expected start date of January 20,2025, and an expected term length of one year.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated abilities in Medical Education, communication, collaboration and a passion for quality and patient safety. S/he will be an inclusive and visionary leader, ideally possessing experience in medical leadership and is considered a strong clinician by peers.
The successful candidate will also possess superior interpersonal skills, have experience in Academic departments and Medical Education.
Candidates must possess Certification with The College of Family Physicians (CCFP) or other relevant certification/specialization, be eligible to work in Canada, and hold or be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta and appointment to the AHS Medical Staff. It would be preferable if candidates have evidence of formal administrative education and training.
