Alberta Health Services in partnership with The University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, Department of Medicine, Division of Nephrology, invites applications for a Nephrologist to be based at the University of Alberta Hospital/Kaye Edmonton Clinic, located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry has been internationally recognized as among the world’s top 50 medical schools and as one of Canada's premier health-education institutions. The Division of Nephrology and Immunology is home to 47 physicians in roles that include basic and clinical research, transplantation, general nephrology, and dialysis. The University is currently home to 39,000 students and 15,000 faculty and staff. Alberta Health Services (AHS) is Canada's largest and only provincial health region providing services for a population of over 3 million people.

The Division of Nephrology and Immunology at the University of Alberta provides leadership to the educational and administrative activities of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, and Alberta Health Services. The University of Alberta Nephrology group primarily serves patients in the Edmonton Corridor.
Specifics to the Position:
Key clinical accountabilities for the position will include, but not be limited to: weeks and weekends of inpatient, and consult services as well as hemodialysis coverage at the University of Alberta Hospital and across satellite outpatient dialysis units within the Edmonton Zones, as well as managing Nephrology outpatients at the Kaye Edmonton Clinic. Key scholarly activities include developing a procedure-specific curriculum for nephrology trainees and, potentially, faculty.
The successful applicant will also be expected to apply for a Clinical Academic Colleague Appointment in the Department of Medicine, University of Alberta, which will be considered under a separate process through the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate will be an MD with certification in Nephrology with the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada or equivalent and be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA). The ideal candidate shall have experience and expertise with nephrology procedures, including but not limited to point of care imaging modalities, tunneled and untunneled dialysis catheter placement, peritoneal dialysis catheter exteriorization.
Preference shall be given to candidates who already have permits to practice medicine in Alberta.
