Alberta Health Services – North Zone, and the Department of Women's Health at the Cold Lake Healthcare Centre, are currently looking for an Obstetrician & Gynecologist to join their current team of Specialists and Family Medicine physicians and establish a full-time practice in the community of Cold Lake. This position will provide services in Obstetrics and Gynecology, with a key primary focus on Gynecology consults and procedures.

The ideal candidate may also provide services in High-Risk Obstetrics consults with occasional Obstetrics procedure coverage, for vacation relief.

The successful candidate is required to offer services within the Cold Lake Healthcare Centre and out of a community-based Specialty practice, within the community of Cold Lake.

The candidate may choose to operate their business by joining an existing independent outpatient practice or form an independent outpatient office of their own. This is the candidate's independent business decision and will not be managed through the recruitment process.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Reside in and have as his/her primary residence within the community of Cold Lake;
  • Establish and maintain full time community-based practice within the community;
  • Obtain and maintain an AHS Medical Staff Appointment and appropriate privileges to provide the Services;
  • Provide call assistance as per call schedules, including occasional participation in the Obstetrics call schedule, as required;
  • Abide by the AHS Medical Staff Bylaws, the AHS Medical Staff Rules and AHS policies;
  • Participate in quality improvement programs and initiatives undertaken within the Zone Clinical Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology;
  • Participate in relevant Continuing Medical Education (CME) programs;
  • Contribute to and participate in other administrative responsibilities, as assigned;
  • Work collaboratively with peers and care team colleagues in support of patient care.

Required Qualifications:

  • Current Alberta Practice Permit or valid CPSA Letter of Eligibility to practice in the advertised position (proof of to be included with application).
  • Have or be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Certification (RCPSC);
  • Recent and relevant experience (within the past 2 years) in all areas of practice required, as Most Responsible Physician;
  • Have specialty certification or equivalent in Obstetrics & Gynecology.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Must have Fellow of The Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC), or be FRCPC Eligible
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS);
  • Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS)
  • College of Family Physicians of Canada (CCFP)
  • College of Family Physicians of Canada – Emergency Medicine (CCFP-EM)
  • Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics (ALSO);
  • Pediatric Life Support (PALS);
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP);
  • Managing Obstetrical Risk Efficiently (MOREOB) / Advances in Labour and Risk Management (ALARM)
