Alberta Health Services is actively recruiting an OBGYN Specialist physician to establish a full-time practice in the community of Barrhead. This position will include hospital call.
The successful candidate is preferred to be FRCSC (Fellow, Royal College of Surgeons Canada) or FRCSC eligible.Interest in gynecological surgery is desired.
Once chosen, the successful candidate may choose to operate their business by joining an existing practice or opening their own practice. This is the candidate's independent business decision and will not be managed through the recruitment process.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Reside in and have as his/her primary residence within the community of Barrhead;
- Establish and maintain full time community based practice within the community;
- Obtain and maintain an AHS Medical Staff Appointment and appropriate privileges to provide the Services;
- Provide hospital and call assistance as required;
- Abide by the AHS Medical Staff Bylaws, the AHS Medical Staff Rules and AHS policies;
- Participate in quality improvement programs and initiatives undertaken within the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology;
- Participate in relevant Continuing Medical Education (CME) programs;
- Contribute to and participate in other administrative responsibilities, as assigned, and
- Work collaboratively with peers and care team colleagues in support of patient care.

The community also hosts dental and orthodontic clinics, physiotherapy, optometrists, chiropractors & massage therapists.

Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada - desired
Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) - desired

High Risk Obstetrics
Candidate must have hands on experience offering OBGYN services as the sole provider within the past 1-2 years.
