Peter Lougheed Centre, Calgary, Alberta

The Department of Surgery, Alberta Health Services–Calgary Zone and the University of Calgary invite applications for a position as Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Peter Lougheed Centre, Calgary, AB. Qualifications include an MD and a Fellowship from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in the Speciality of Orthopaedic Surgery. The successful applicant will also have Fellowship training in both Orthopaedic Trauma Surgery and Foot & Ankle reconstruction.  Applicants must be eligible for licensure in the province of Alberta. The position will commence July 1st, 2026.

The successful candidate will become a member of the Section of Orthopaedic Surgery.  Clinical responsibilities will include a practice mix of Orthopaedic Trauma Care and Foot & Ankle reconstruction, with a primary focus on orthopaedic trauma care, including a regularly scheduled daytime trauma operating room and fracture clinic at the Peter Lougheed Centre.  The successful candidate will be expected to have competence with single limb, long-bone and periarticular fractures as well as soft tissue injury.  The candidate will also be appointed the administrative role or Peter Lougheed Hospital Trauma Site Lead in which their role will be to manage the walking wounded program. Experience working within the Peter Lougheed Hospital managing the Wounded Patients will be considered an asset. The Foot & Ankle practice will also be supported through elective OR time at the Peter Lougheed Centre and clinic time at the Talaris Medical Clinic. The individual will be required to provide call coverage as required by the Section of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Peter Lougheed Centre and in accordance with Alberta Health Services policies. This position is a 1.0 FTE position. 

The surgeon will be expected to apply for a clinical appointment with the University of Calgary, Cumming School of Medicine, Department of Surgery and to participate in medical student and resident (and fellow) teaching. They will also be expected to take on responsibility in the areas of medical education, research, and administrative duties with the Section of Orthopaedic Surgery and/or Peter Lougheed Centre.
