Pediatric Cardiac Intensivist - Stollery Children’s Hospital | Edmonton, Alberta
Stollery Children’s Hospital is seeking applications for pediatric cardiac intensivists to fill up to 2 positions. These intensivists would join an established team of nine attending physicians in a dedicated, high-acuity Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit.
The Opportunity
The 15-bed PCICU admits approximately 600 patients annually and provides advanced cardiovascular intensive care to neonates, children and adolescents with complex congenital and acquired heart disease.
The program offers broad clinical experience, including:
· Complex postoperative cardiac care
· ECMO and mobile ECMO transport
· Ventricular assist devices
· Heart and lung transplantation
· Pulmonary hypertension
· Advanced cardiopulmonary support
Successful candidates will participate in clinical care, resident and fellow education, research, quality improvement and program development. Extensive opportunities exist for collaboration across the Stollery Cardiac Program, the University of Alberta and the Western Canadian Children’s Heart Network.
Qualifications
Applicants must hold Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada certification, or a recognized international equivalent, in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine.
Applicants must also have either:
* Completed at least one year of advanced training in pediatric cardiac intensive care through a recognized program; or
* Completed formal training in pediatric cardiology.
Previous consultant-level experience in pediatric cardiac intensive care will be given preference but is not required.

Stollery Children’s Hospital is one of two pediatric cardiac surgical sites serving children across Western and Northern Canada. The regional program serves a referral population of more than 13 million people across a vast geographic area.
The Stollery Cardiac Program is one of North America’s highest-volume pediatric cardiac surgical programs and manages a highly complex patient population. Stollery Children’s Hospital is also Western Canada’s primary pediatric ECLS centre and the lead site for the Western Canadian Pediatric Pulmonary Hypertension Program.
Renumeration
Remuneration for this position is based upon the clinical Alternative Relationship Plan. cARP remuneration ranges based on a number of different factors and can range from $525,000+ per year.
