Pediatric Hematologist
This position is a full time (1.0 FTE) tenure track (contingent) position, comprising approximately 65% time for clinical service and 35% time for academic pursuits divided between research, teaching, and administrative duties (negotiable).
The successful applicant will join the IHOPE (Immunology, Hematology, Oncology and Palliative care) division which includes six pediatric hematologists as well as others including pediatric oncology, immunology and palliative care subspecialists, and basic scientists. Pediatric Hematology provides a full spectrum of classical hematological services. In addition to clinical care, the division is active in teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The division has an active basic and clinical science research program, collaborating locally, nationally, and internationally.
This role would provide clinical support to existing pediatric hematology and KIDCLOT inpatient and outpatient services. The pediatric hematology program offers care to a large geographical catchment area in Alberta with expertise in hemoglobinopathies, hemostasis, bone marrow failure syndromes and more. The Pediatric KIDCLOT team is an internationally recognized program providing thrombosis, thromboprophylaxis and perioperative management as part of the Stollery Children's Hospital Cardiac Sciences program and the Western Canadian Heart Network. The ideal candidate will contribute to the research/educational program within the pediatric haematology/KIDCLOT program and the academic mission of the division and Department of Pediatrics.
Qualifications
Interested applicants must have:
● MD degree (or equivalent).
● Completed training in Pediatrics and subspecialty training in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology.
● Advanced training and/or experience in pediatric thrombosis, specifically cardiac thrombosis care.
● Clinical research experience.
● Must be certified or eligible to become a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent training. ● Must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA).
