Description:

The Department of Pediatrics (DoP) invite applicants to apply to a Pediatric Nephrologist, 0.5 FTE, position at the Alberta Children’s Hospital, within Alberta Health Services, Calgary Zone, Section of Pediatric Nephrology. This position is funded by the Alberta Academic Medicine Health Services Program (AMHSP).

The target start date for this position is September 1 2026, but is negotiable based on the successful applicant’s availability.

This position will have the following FTE breakdown, with one half day equal to five hours: 
-    80% Clinical – approximately 184 clinical half days 
-    10% Education – approximately 23 educational half days
-    10% Research – approximately 23 research half days

The successful candidate will provide clinical service that includes the following: pediatric nephrology in-patient consultation; pediatric nephrology CKD/Transplantation/HD Service; ambulatory pediatric nephrology clinics.

Additionally, the successful candidate will help sustain pediatric nephrology consultation support for critically ill children in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. The successful candidate will also provide indirect/other patient care including activities such as clinic preparation/operation meetings, unanticipated patient visits, indirect patient care activities occurring on non-clinic days, care planning, telephone consultation not occurring on clinical service days, etc.  The successful candidate will provide on-call weekday and weekend coverage on a rotational basis proportionally to the share of in-patient consultation days included in their 0.5 FTE.  The successful candidate will contribute to ongoing academic/clinical research projects that require patient recruitment and clinical assessment as well as bedside teaching of rotating trainees.

Qualifications:

Qualifications include an MD, certification or eligibility for certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Pediatrics and Pediatric Nephrology, or equivalent certification from another professional association. 
Additional training in acute and critical care nephrology, acute kidney injury, and all forms of dialysis modalities is an asset.
Strong interest in medical education, with the ability to supervise and teach learners at all levels of training.
