Alberta Health Services – North Zone and the Bonnyville Healthcare Centre are currently looking for a Pediatrician Specialist to join their current team of Family Medicine physicians and establish a full-time practice in the community of Bonnyville. This position will provide services in Children's Health.
The successful candidate is required to offer services within the Bonnyville Healthcare Centre and out of a community-based Specialty practice, within the community of Bonnyville. The successful candidate is also expected to offer in-person Specialty Pediatric services, within the neighboring community of Cold Lake in the coming future, on a rotating basis and as needed.
The candidate may choose to operate their business by joining an existing independent outpatient practice or form an independent outpatient office of their own. This is the candidate's independent business decision and will not be managed through the recruitment process.
Duties include but not limited to:
• Reside in and have as his/her primary residence within the community of Bonnyville.
• Establish and maintain full time community-based practice within the community.
• Obtain and maintain an AHS Medical Staff Appointment and appropriate privileges to provide the Services.
• Participation in the Pediatric call schedule, as required.
• Abide by the AHS Medical Staff Bylaws, the AHS Medical Staff Rules and AHS policies.
• Participate in quality improvement programs and initiatives undertaken within the Zone Clinical Department of Children's Health.
• Participate in relevant Continuing Medical Education (CME) programs.
• Contribute to and participate in other administrative duties, as assigned.
• Work collaboratively with peers and care team colleagues in support of patient care.

Seeing just over 19,000 emergency room visits per year, the Bonnyville Health Centre is an active 33-bed acute + 30-bed continuing care centre serving residents from a town of 6,404 (2021 stat); with a catchment area of approximately 16,500 residents. The community also hosts dental clinics, physiotherapy, optometrists, chiropractors, massage therapists, & psychologists.

Required Qualifications:
· Current Alberta Practice Permit or valid CPSA Letter of Eligibility to practice in the advertised position (proof of to be included with application).
· Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
· Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP)
· Recent and relevant experience as Most Responsible Physician.
Desired Qualifications:
· Have or be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC).
