Position Description
The Department of Pediatrics, Section of Community Pediatrics, invites applicants to apply for a Pediatrics position with the Rockyview General Hospital (RGH) Newborn Care Team. We are looking to fill two 0.20 FTE Fee For Services (FFS) positions, with a target start date of January 1, 2027.
Pediatricians with the RGH Newborn Care Team provide in-hospital assessments and medical care to newborn babies admitted to the pediatric group on the Post-Partum unit. The physician will also provide pediatric consultations as requested by family medicine and midwifery colleagues to newborns on the Post-Partum unit.
The scope of work includes daily rounds for a 7-day period, completing consultations, and taking calls to support the management of the newborns under our care. Given this 24/7 call model, this position qualifies for compensation under the Physician on Call program.
Pediatricians in the group will be expected to do 6 - 8 weeks of service in a year. There is an expectation of all physicians in our group to share coverage of summer weeks, long weekends and winter holiday dates to maintain service provision over the entire year.
The RGH Post-Partum unit offers a multi-disciplinary care model, with strong nursing care, lactation consultant support, and social work support for our patients. There is also a collaborative relationship with the RGH NICU to provide care to the full spectrum of newborns that are delivered at RGH. It is a wonderful place to work!

Qualifications
Qualifications include certification in Pediatrics by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
Active certification in PALS and NRP is not required.
The candidate must be eligible for Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.
Must read, write, and speak English.
