Alberta Health Services (AHS), Edmonton Zone invites applications for the role of Physician Lead, Integrated Quality Management (IQM).
This 0.40 FTE position reports directly to Edmonton Associate Zone Medical Director (AZMD) for quality.
The Physician Lead-IQM is a Medical Leadership role in the Edmonton Zone reporting to the AZMD for quality; providing leadership in support of the AZMD; contributing expert guidance and advice on Zone strategic planning and policy matters; providing leadership to special projects and programmatic development at the request of the AZMD; and performing other zonal duties as delegated by the AZMD.
More specifically, the Physician Lead-IQM is a champion and advocate for quality improvement and patient safety. The Physician-IQM will work within a dyad relationship with the Program Manager of Quality and Safety and will be responsible for the development and execution of a new and innovative organizational framework for quality management within the Edmonton Zone. The development of this new model is a priority initiative for the Edmonton Zone and will be implemented on a zone-wide basis with the support and engagement of all medical and operational leaders.
Other major accountabilities include:
- Achieving results-provide leadership and oversight of programs, services and activities for the effective operation of services across the zone;
- Relationship management-collaboration with stakeholders such as medical and operational leaders, external organizations, program improvement and integration networks.
- Strategic Planning and Evaluation-in collaboration with operational colleagues, guide the development, implementation and evaluation of AHS strategic and operational plans;
- Quality/Safety-develop and oversee clinical quality and patient safety activities in alignment with the Alberta Health Services learn improve together strategy;
- Physician Engagement-maintain a structure for medical staff communication and engagement;
- Resource Management-provide strategic leadership throughout the resource allocation and management process;
This position has an expected start date of February 1st 2025, and an expected term of 3 years.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated abilities in communication, conflict resolution, and negotiation. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated abilities in communication, conflict resolution and a passion for quality and patient safety working as a part of a leadership team. They will be an inclusive and visionary leader with significant experience in medical leadership and is considered a strong clinician by peers.
Candidates must be registered or eligible for registration with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent, eligible to work in Canada, and be eligible for or have current licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta and appointment to the AHS Medical Staff. Candidates should have evidence of formal administrative education and training.
