Physician involvement in site leadership is crucial. As a physician leader they can provide the necessary oversight and act as the best advocates for the site. The site chief is instrumental in liaising with other services to provide rapid solutions and engagement to unexpected problems. He/she actively engages with nursing manager to troubleshoot and resolve local site issues both on the wards and in the outpatient department. He/she acts as a "go to" person with site specific knowledge for the medical staff.
The model of leadership developed in the Department of Cardiac Sciences is a dyad model where the Administrative Site Leader and Physician Site Leaders closely interact and jointly develop the strategic plan for each site that is in line with the Section of Cardiology and Department of Cardiac Sciences focused on improving Cardiovascular Care within the region.
