This position is part of Recovery Alberta, supporting our ongoing efforts to enhance healthcare services across the province.

 

Description: 

Mental Health, Recovery Alberta is inviting applications for two 0.3-0.4 FTE psychiatrists to join the Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team. 

ACT is a wrap-around outreach program for complex clients with severe and persistent mental illness.  We are seeking psychiatrists who are interested in working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to support patient care.  Experience in working with concurrent disorders and Community Treatment Orders will be an asset.  Specific responsibilities will include:

              Diagnostic assessment and management of new referrals while providing ongoing care and treatment to existing clients.  Estimated caseload approximately 75-85 clients per 0.4 FTE, with flexibility depending on practice preference. 

              Management of Community Treatment Orders (CTO) as needed. 

              Participation in weekly clinical team meetings.  Collaborative care-planning and problem solving to find clinical and practical interventions to support complex clients and keep them in the community.

              Providing phone/email support to case managers during the week when needed.

              Willingness to provide outreach appointments when appropriate. 

              Working with clients and families, as well as internal and external healthcare professionals as needed. 

              Supervising psychiatry residents in the role of a preceptor for their Chronic Care rotation

              Providing call coverage approximately once per month

Qualifications:

The candidate must be eligible for Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.

Must read, write, and speak English.
