Alberta Health Services, South Zone - is actively seeking a full-time Rural Family Medicine Physician with a focus on Emergency Medicine at the Brooks Health Centre, in the community of Brooks, Alberta.
Responsibilities of the position are:
Establish and maintain a full-time Rural Emergency Medicine practice in the community of Brooks; A full-time practice is generally accepted as engagement in clinical duties 8-10, twelve (12) hour shifts per month and/or providing commensurate shifts in keeping with other full-time practice FTEs in person, as assigned by the medical leader responsible for the area of clinical service;
Additional AHS call and section support may be considered for hospitalist and low risk obstetrics for Rural Medicine practices in the South Zone at the Brooks Health Centre;
Obtain and maintain AHS Medical Staff Appointment and hospital privileges which will minimally include provision of Emergency Room coverage, including independent low risk obstetric coverage during night shift.
Abide by the AHS Medical Staff Bylaws, the Rules and AHS policies;
Reside in and have as primary residence, the community of Brooks;
Work collaboratively with peers and care team colleagues as a member of the ZCD of Rural Medicine at BHC in support of patient care; and
Participate in quality improvement programs and initiatives undertaken within the ZCD of Rural Medicine at Brooks Health Centre and AHS in general, including (without limitation) achievement of certain performance indicators as determined by AHS, exercising its discretion reasonably.
Qualifications:
Candidate Requirements:
Licensure: Must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA) as a General Practitioner or be recognized as a specialist in Family Medicine.
Clinical Experience:
· Demonstrated experience in full-scope general practice, including low-risk obstetrics within the past 1–2 years.
· Independent Emergency Room and Acute Care Hospital experience in a rural setting within the past 1–2 years.
Certifications:
· Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – Required
· Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) – Required
· Certificate of the College of Family Physicians (CCFP) – Emergency Medicine, Diploma Emergency Care - Desired
