Position Summary
AHS is committed to providing services based on the population needs of AHS and promoting a shared
responsibility for improved health.
The Contractor shall provide services to the Calgary Zone in Maternal Newborn Care.
The working title while providing the Services shall be Site Lead RGH.

Accountabilities / Deliverables

In a competent and professional manner, the Contractor will:

Respond to and address Family Medicine Obstetrical site issues including, but not limited, to:
1. Serve as the point of contact for: Executive Director/Unit managers/OB Lead/Peds/NICU
2. Patient Relations/Adverse event reporting
3. QAR representative
4. Attend OBSL meetings
5. Audit results
6. Quarterly statistics
7. QI/Education initiatives
8. Attend applicable meetings to further advance Family Medicine program objectives on site
9. Periodic Reviews
10. Exit Interviews
11. Orientations
12. Locums/Workforce planning committee (includes reviews of new locums and provider numbers)
13. Communication to all Family Medicine Obstetrics physicians(FMOBs)
14. Coordinate CME (i.e., FHS, NRP, group learning or training)

In collaboration with the Section Chief of the Maternal Newborn Section:
15. Develop Family Medicine policies to address shared obstetrical issues
16. Integrate Family Medicine obstetrical service planning into AHS obstetrical initiatives through
participation in relevant Department of Obstetrics meetings
17. Develop and implement strategies to link with community physicians
18. Liaise with the DFM Residency program

 The successful candidate will have:
· Current licensure with the College of Physician and Surgeons of Alberta and a medical staff appointment with Alberta Health Services with privileges to practice low risk obstetrics at PLC
· Minimum of 3-5 years of experience providing obstetrical care.
· Excellent communications skills.
· A demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
· Time and interest to commit to advancing maternal newborn care at the PLC.
· Leadership experience in managing programs an asset.


The candidate must be eligible for Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.
Must read, write, and speak English.
