The Department of Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry at the University of Alberta, in partnership with Alberta Health Services (AHS) in Edmonton, Alberta invites applications for the role of Staff Chronic Pain Physician with an Interest in Geriatric Chronic Pain (0.8 FTE).
We are seeking the services of an enthusiastic Chronic Pain Physician to join our University Group. Experience in providing care at Tertiary level and appreciating the increased psychological burden of chronic pain and addiction medicine is essential.
This is a full-time position based primarily at the University of Alberta Hospital, a tertiary level trauma and transplant centre, and the Multidisciplinary Chronic Pain Centre.
The Multidisciplinary Chronic Pain Centre is based at the University of Alberta and has more than 1400 new patients visits per year. Clinical psychology, interventional radiology and Physiotherapy are available within the Campus.
Successful applicants will apply for an Academic Clinical Appointment in the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine. Final job description will be negotiated with the clinical department lead to fit with previous experience and interests and will include resident education. Department members can expect between 6 and 12 weeks of vacation and meeting time per year.
The Department of Anesthesiology team includes physicians, scientists, educators and allied health professionals and is a major referral centre for Northern Alberta and the Northwest Territories. In Edmonton, the Anesthesiology group provides services to patients at the Cross Cancer Institute, Grey Nuns Community Hospital, Leduc Community Hospital, Misericordia Community Hospital, Royal Alexandra Hospital, Stollery Children’s Hospital, Sturgeon Community Hospital and the University of Alberta Hospital.
Qualifications:
The successful applicants shall have certification with the Royal College of Physicians of Canada and be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta. Additional training in chronic pain management is required for this position.
