The University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, Department of Medicine, Division of Pulmonary Medicine in partnership with Alberta Health Services, invites applications for two FFS positions in Pulmonary Medicine to be based at the Royal Alexandra Hospital. Located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, the Faculty has been internationally recognized as among the world’s top 50 medical schools and as one of Canada’s premier health-education institutions. The University is currently home to more than 38,000 students with more than 15,000 faculty and staff.
The Division of Pulmonary Medicine provides a wide range of quaternary and tertiary clinical services in Pulmonary Medicine and Allergy and is home to the second largest lung transplant program in Canada averaging 60-80 transplants annually. The Division has a long-standing history of excellence and international reputation in clinical and research activities on airways disease.
Divisional members are active in the international research community in most fields of Pulmonary Medicine (https://www.ualberta.ca/department-of-medicine/divisions/pulmonary-medicine/index.html).
The successful candidates will be an MD (or equivalent) with certification in Respiratory Medicine, with the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada, will be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA) and demonstrate a proven clinical expertise and track record in Pulmonary Medicine.
The successful candidates will be expected to apply for a title of Clinical Academic Colleague in the Department of Medicine, and to support research and educational activities in the Division.
Will be expected to participate fully in the Pulmonary Medicine group activities including clinical meetings, QI, education and research. The successful candidates will also be required to fully participate in the Department of Medicine teaching and learning activities as well as Divisional CME activities.
Specifically, the successful candidates will be involved in Quality Improvement and research projects with the Pulmonary Medicine group at the RAH, will be involved in bedside teaching with students and residents and will be required to support OSCE in the Department of Medicine.
