Alberta Health Services (AHS), Edmonton Zone invites applications for the role of Zone Clinical Section Chief, Pediatric Neurodevelopment.

 

 

This 0.10 FTE position governed by the Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules, reports to the Zone Clinical Department Head (ZCDH), Child Health.  The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that standards of care are being met in the department and that support for research and teaching is available.

 

This is medical leadership role provides essential support to the Edmonton Zone Clinical Department Head, Child Health. The Section Chief offers expert advice and guidance on matters within the clinical area of Pediatric Neurodevelopment and Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine, and plays a critical role in both the Section and the Department overall. With interfacility flow and capacity as a key priority and waitlists increasing, effective coordination is required to manage resource allocation and plan recruitment in an organized manner.

 

The Section Chief works closely with the ZCDH’s, Facility Site Chiefs, Medical Directors, and other leaders. The role also involves collaboration with physicians, operational leaders, nurses, and allied health professionals to ensure patients receive high quality care while resources are used appropriately.

 

This position is vital to the functionality of the Section and encompasses responsibility for pediatric hospital based patient care (inpatient and outpatient). The ZCSC, Pediatric Neurodevelopment provides leadership to a group of highly trained pediatric specialists in the Neurodevelopment Pediatrics and Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine, and engages with other Sections to support integrated, high quality care and provide leadership to strengthen and sustain these relationships.

 

The position has an expected start date of approximately April 1, 2026 and an expected term of 3 years.

They will be an inclusive and visionary leader with experience in medical leadership and is considered a strong clinician by peers.

 

 

Candidates must be registered or eligible for registration with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent, eligible to work in Canada, and be eligible for or have current licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta and appointment to the AHS Medical Staff.
