Alberta Health Services (AHS), Edmonton Zone invites applications for the role of Zone Clinical Section Chief (ZCSC), Pediatric Endocrinology.
This 0.10 FTE position governed by the Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules, reports to the Zone Clinical Department Head (ZCDH), Child Health.
The Zone Clinical Section Chief (ZCSC), Pediatric Endocrinology provides leadership to a group of highly trained pediatric specialists in Pediatric Endocrinology and will be responsible for ensuring that clinical standards of care are met within the section and that support for research and teaching is available. This position provides input into the development of policies and criteria for procedures as they relate to Child Health.
Other accountabilities include:
- Quality– ensure the ongoing monitoring of clinical/medical practice; including the development/maintenance of processes and practices to promote clinical standards of care.
- Resource Management – support recruitment and retention of physicians to the section, scheduling, and participate in planning to anticipate future needs.
- Physician Performance Review – support bylaws processes as needed, and performance reviews of physician staff appointed within the section. This is inclusive of reviewing and recommending privileges for physicians within the section.
- Academic Liaison – ensuring support within Pediatric Endocrinology for medical learners including review of job shadow applications.
The position has an expected start date of approximately December 1st, 2025 and an expected term of 3 years.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated abilities in communication, conflict resolution and a passion for quality and patient safety working as a part of a leadership team. They will be an inclusive and visionary leader with experience in medical leadership and considered a strong clinician by peers.
Candidates must be registered or eligible for registration with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent, eligible to work in Canada, and be eligible for or have current licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta and appointment to the AHS Medical Staff. Candidates should have evidence of formal administrative education and training.
