Alberta Health Services (AHS), Edmonton Zone invites applications for the role of Zone Clinical Section Chief (ZCSC), Urogynecology.
This 0.20 FTE position governed by the Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules, reports to the Zone Clinical Department Head (ZCDH), Women’s Health. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that standards of care are being met in the department and that support for research and teaching is available.
The ZCSC Urogynecology is a leadership role contributing guidance and advice for strategic planning, project development and quality care for patients receiving clinical care through the Section of Urogynecology. This section chief will work with the medical leadership team contributing expert guidance and advice to matters within the Department of Women’s Health; and conducting rigorous performance management and quality improvement. This position will also support the Chronic Pelvic Pain Program within Women’s Health.
The Urogynecology Section Chief is accountable for ensuring effective support at the site level for teaching, research, patient safety, quality management and more. The role will also support recruitment and retention of physicians to the section and liaise with Zone Councils and other site medical leaders.
The position has an expected start date of approximately January 1, 2026 and an expected term of 3 years.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated abilities in communication, conflict resolution, and negotiation. They will be an inclusive and visionary leader with significant experience in medical leadership and is considered a strong clinician by peers.
Candidates must be registered or eligible for registration with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent, eligible to work in Canada, and be eligible for or have current licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta and appointment to the AHS Medical Staff. Candidates must have completed a fellowship in Urogynecology and Pelvic Floor Reconstruction or equivalent. Candidates should have evidence of formal administrative education and training.
