Description:

Alberta Health Services, Department of Medicine, in conjunction with the University of Calgary invites applications for a 1.0 FTE clinical nephrologist. Experience with multidisciplinary care for individuals with kidney disease is required. 

Additional specialized interest/training in pharmacogenetics is an asset.   

75% clinical service in all areas of nephrology including ambulatory care (CKD, General Nephrology, GN), dialysis, hospital inpatient and consultation. Weeknight and weekend call (up to 18 weeks of service, 2+ half day clinics/week). 

10% education in the Division of Nephrology and Department of Medicine (Continuing Professional Development, Fellowship and Resident Training) and the Cumming School of Medicine (Undergraduate Medical Education).  Opportunity for co-lead of Nephrology Residency Program.   

5% administration responsibilities within the Section of Nephrology. Co-Lead for central triage and Medical Lead for Clinical Pharmacology. 

10% research/ quality improvement initiatives Clinical Pharmacology and Hemodialysis.

Be an integral part of the Nephrology team in Calgary, utilizing strong collaborative skills to support and contribute to the overall clinical, research and education mission of the Section. 

The Section of Nephrology is strongly committed to work life integration and section members will be expected to take 4 weeks of vacation and at least one week of conference leave yearly.

Qualifications:

Qualifications include: 

  • MD, FRCPC (Nephrology) 
  • Eligibility for licensure in the province of Alberta 
  • Established reputable excellence in clinical care and teaching of medical students and residents  
  • Expertise in dialysis including peritoneal and home dialysis therapies 
  • Research /QI experience in nephrology 
  • Completion of additional fellowship training 

The candidate must be eligible for Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.
