Alberta Health Services (AHS), Edmonton Corridor invites applications for the role of Corridor Clinical Department Lead (CCDL), Surgery.
This 0.60 FTE position governed by the Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules, reports to the Associate Corridor Medical Lead (ACML), Surgery. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that standards of care are being met in the department and that support for research and teaching is available.
The Edmonton Corridor Clinical Department Lead for Surgery is a senior medical leadership role reporting to—and providing leadership support to—the Associate Corridor Medical Lead and supporting the vision of the Corridor Medical Lead. The Corridor Clinical Department Lead provides expert guidance on matters within the Corridor Clinical Department, including performance management and quality improvement, to advance high-quality, patient-centred surgical care.
Key responsibilities include:
- Operational leadership: effective oversight of all Edmonton Corridor Surgery services.
- Strategic planning and evaluation: development of strategic plans, in-patient services, priorities and performance agreements, including workforce planning.
- Relationship management: collaboration with diverse groups of partners, patients, and community members.
- Performance management: innovation and integration of high-quality, patient-focused clinical care.
Other responsibilities as outlined in the AHS Medical Staff Bylaws.
The position has an expected start date of approximately October 1, 2026 and an expected term of 3 years.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated abilities in communication, conflict resolution, and negotiation. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated abilities in communication, conflict resolution and a passion for quality and patient safety working as a part of a leadership team. They will be an inclusive and visionary leader with significant experience in medical leadership and is considered a strong clinician by peers.
Candidates must be registered or eligible for registration with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent, eligible to work in Canada, and be eligible for or have current licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta and appointment to the AHS Medical Staff. Candidates should have evidence of formal administrative education and training.
