The Low-Risk Maternity Clinic supports the patient’s medical home working directly with patients to provide prenatal and postpartum care. The clinic also provides birth control for current and referred patients. The successful candidate will become part of the West Edmonton Low Risk Obstetrical clinic. They serve the low-risk maternity population within the catchment area and beyond. They work in the Low-Risk Maternity Clinic housed in the EWPCN central office.

The recruited physician would be required to work at the clinic one ½ day a week and will share an on-call schedule which consists of coverage for 24 hours for 1 day a week and 1 weekend per 6-8 weeks, depending on rotation and physician availability. The physician would provide prenatal care to patient from time of first positive pregnancy tests, labor and delivery to 6 weeks postpartum as per Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Canada guidelines and evidence-based medicine. The low-risk maternity physicians will have privileges at the Misericordia Hospital.

The West Edmonton Low Risk Obstetrical clinic group meets approximately 4 times a year (in person or virtually), for learning opportunities and program planning.

Qualifications:

·        The successful candidate will have completed a two-year Family Medicine Residence, including a demonstrated interest in Family Medicine Obstetrics (FMOB).

·        The successful candidate must be eligible for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada and for medical licensure in the province of Alberta.

·        Previous experience in primary care setting, working within a group setting would be beneficial.

·        Commitment to delivering patient-centered care with a focus on safety, quality, and positive outcomes.

License/ Certification(s):

·        Medical degree from an accredited institution

·        Valid license to practice medicine in Alberta, Canada

·        CMPA membership for Family Medicine/Obstetrics
