Alberta Health Services, Calgary Corridor is currently recruiting for a fee-for-service general neurologist.
A general neurologist with a joint appointment between the Department of Clinical Neurosciences and the Alberta Neurologic Centre (ANC). All ambulatory outpatient clinic activity will be conducted at the ANC, where the physician will provide comprehensive general neurology assessment and management across a broad spectrum of neurological conditions. Candidates with subspecialty interests are encouraged to apply and may have the opportunity to develop focused referral streams within the general neurology framework at the ANC.
The neurologist will also participate in the city-wide inpatient neurology service and on-call schedule at Calgary AHS hospitals, contributing approximately 5–8 weeks per year of inpatient and consultation neurology service across Foothills Medical Centre, South Health Campus, Peter Lougheed Centre, and Rockyview General Hospital.
The neurologist will be expected to contribute to the academic activities of the Division including participation in educational rounds, case conferences, quality improvement activities, and teaching of neurology residents and medical students. This new fee-for-service position reflects the sustained demand for general neurology services across Calgary and the strategic partnership between the Department of Clinical Neurosciences and the ANC to expand access to ambulatory neurological care.
Qualifications include an MD, a specialist certificate in Neurology from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and eligibility for licensure in the Province of Alberta. We require a neurologist who has demonstrated a record of success in an academic environment, proven clinical excellence, a record of working well within a team, demonstrated organizational, leadership, collaboration and teaching skills are required.
The ability to participate fully in the Calgary city-wide call schedule is required. Must read, write and speak English. All qualified candidates are encouraged, however, Canadians and Permanent Residents will be given priority.
