The Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Alberta Health Services (AHS) Calgary Zone, the Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary is actively recruiting for a Medical Director - Antenatal Community Care Program (ACCP). Expectations will be to provide medical leadership in the area of home-based and ambulatory care for high-risk obstetrical patients. Provides medical input into the development and review of guidelines/policies for the ACCP Program. These guidelines and policies are reviewed on an ongoing basis with the team. Updating the referral forms and criteria on an ongoing basis. Ensure that patients are suitable for enrolment in the program if the referral is outside the established guidelines for the Program. If there is a request for enrolment outside the established guidelines, the Medical Director is to assess the feasibility. Medical Director paged if there are concerns noted at the time of maternal or fetal assessment on the weekends and the referring physician unable for advice to the ACCP nurses. Audit utilization of antenatal acute care admissions to ensure that patients admitted to hospital are appropriate. Liaise with the Emergency Medical Services, regarding point of care management and transport of these high-risk pregnant patients. Promote this program to the members of the department and physicians and administrators in relevant external jurisdictions. Evaluate outcomes for presentation to the department and other interested individuals annually. Annual report is submitted every year. Development of research projects which have been published in reputed peer reviewed journals to assess for change in clinical practice. Regular as well as adhoc meeting with the ACCP nurse manager to address clinical, academic and administrative questions from the nursing staff. Because of the close interaction of this role between inpatient and outpatient high risk patients, Obstetrician with training in Maternal Fetal Medicine is usually the Medical Director. Candidates must have their FRCSC in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and preference will be given to a candidate with Royal College Subspecialty Certification and have administrative interest. All candidates will be required to have clinical academic appointments with the Cumming School of Medicine University of Calgary.

Qualifications:
FRCSC Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Incumbent must be an active member of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and a member in good standing.
The candidate must be eligible for Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.
Must read, write and speak English.
